Entries are now open for the 2025 Woolworths Young Farmer of the Year Competition, proudly presented by Rural Youth Tasmania. Open to all Tasmanians aged 15 to 30, the competition welcomes participants from all backgrounds — not just Rural Youth members — who are eager to test their agricultural skills and knowledge.
Rural Youth State President Amber Bramich said the competition is a valuable opportunity for young people in agriculture. “The Woolworths Young Farmer of the Year Competition is a great way for aspiring young farmers to not only showcase their skills, but also to learn new ones and connect with industry representatives.” Ms Bramich also acknowledged Woolworths for their ongoing partnership. “It’s fantastic to again team up with Woolworths to deliver this growing and highly successful event.”
Woolworths continues their involvement as a sign of their support for all Tasmanian young farmers. Operations Manager of Woolworths Tasmania, Nannette Rose, said “We are very proud to continue to be the naming rights sponsor of the Young Farmer of the Year Competition. It is a wonderful competition, and our sponsorship is a small way of showing our support to all the young farmers of Tasmania".
Participants will compete for a massive prize pool valued at over $40,000.
The competition is held in two stages:
Run-Offs: Saturday, 26 July at Quercus Park. Contestants will complete farm-related tasks to earn points. The top 10 scorers will advance to the Final.
State Final: Saturday, 23 August, also at Quercus Park. The top 10 will compete in practical modules throughout the day. The top four will progress to the final two challenges — a Quiz and Public Speaking — at the evening State Final dinner. The winner will be crowned the 2025 Woolworths Tasmanian Young Farmer of the Year.
